Over the past few weeks, cybercriminals have been hard at work targeting our community. While the types of scams these days seem endless, there are three we've seen on repeat recently—including scammers impersonating 3Rivers.
If you’ve ever received a package you didn’t order, you might assume it’s a mistake—or even a pleasant surprise! We continue to receive reports that fraudulent text messages, known as smishing scams, are going around our area, impersonating 3Rivers. In most cases, these texts state that you recently made a purchase from a specific store and ask you to click a link to confirm or deny the charges. These texts often look very authentic, but there are a few key indicators that they're coming from scammers and not your trusted financial institution.
Sorting through what's real and what's fraudulent can be exhausting work. We want to make spotting scams, and knowing what to do when you come across one, easier for those in our community. We're hosting a FREE seminar around the topic, and would love for you to join us!
